The Role: Teaching Assistant
- Job Purpose: Promote effective teaching and learning for students at our specialist school and college.
- Accountable to: The Class Teacher.
What You'll Be Doing
- Direct Student Support: Provide individual or group teaching assistance planned by the teacher.
- Curriculum Assistance: Help prepare differentiated work, especially Work Related Activities (WRA), including tasks offsite like shopping or supporting work placements.
- Wellbeing & Management: Support the general wellbeing of students and manage them according to school expectations.
- Supervision: Supervise students in classrooms, play areas, the dining room, and during activities like toileting or potentially dangerous group work (e.g., cooking, science).
- Physical & Mental Resilience: Must have the agility to move across our large 23-acre site and support students in offsite social and educational activities.
- Resource Management: Play a role in managing resources (e.g., language equipment, AV equipment, art supplies) within the designated teaching area.
- Teamwork: Liaise effectively with teachers, care staff, and parents to share knowledge and information.
Requirements
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
- Must complete "team teach positive behaviour support training" before employment begins.
- Physical and mental resilience is essential due to the nature of the environment and student challenges.
Working Hours & Location
- Total Hours: 36 hours per week (plus 30 min admin time). Typical Day (08:30 start): Finish times range from 15:45 (Friday) to 16:15 (Tues-Thurs).
- Flexibility: Full-time hours per day are required, but we can accommodate part-time (ideally 3+ days/week). Contact us to discuss!
