We're looking for someone to provide essential 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the pupils' well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing holistic support for pupils' social, emotional, and physical needs, following individualised learning plans.
Using alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or Intensive Interaction to help pupils express themselves.
Assisting with personal care duties as required, always ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of the pupils.
Providing calm and consistent support to help pupils manage their sensory needs and regulate their emotions.
Working closely with the class teacher and a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists, to provide a cohesive support system.
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Proven experience working with children with complex or profound Special Educational Needs in a specialist school or care setting.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly advantageous.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and making a lasting, positive impact.
First Aid training is preferred, but not essential.
