Randstad Education is working with a specialist School in Lewes to recruit a committed SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, and related learning differences. You'll play an active role in helping learners build confidence, develop independence, and re-engage with their education.
About the School
This supportive and well-resourced School provides a therapeutic learning environment for secondary-aged students. With small class sizes, experienced staff, and a child-centred approach, the School offers targeted interventions and tailored learning that meet the individual needs of every Student.
Responsibilities
- Providing direct support to students in and outside of the classroom
- Helping to deliver lessons adapted to each learner's needs and goals
- Building strong, positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and trust
- Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour through consistent strategies
- Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals, and families to ensure joined-up support
Requirments
- At least one year of experience supporting SEN students in UK Schools
- Experience working with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or other additional needs
- A calm, compassionate, and resilient approach to managing behaviour
- A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
