Turn Your Degree into Impact
Are you a Psychology graduate looking for high-quality, "front-line" experience to bolster your portfolio for a Master's, Doctorate, or ClinPsyD? Our brand-new specialist secondary school in Chaldon (opened September 2025) offers a unique clinical environment. This isn't just "classroom help"-it is an opportunity to apply psychological principles in a real-world setting, supporting students aged 11-16 with complex neurodivergent profiles, including Autism, sensory processing needs, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges.
The Role: Behavioural & Developmental Support
As a member of our founding team, you will act as a bridge between education and therapy. You will work within a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT), putting theory into practice every day.
Applied Behavioural Support: Utilise positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to help students regulate their emotions.
Neurodiversity Advocacy: Apply your understanding of social communication and sensory processing to adapt environments for individual student profiles.
Data & Observation: Assist in monitoring student progress, providing qualitative feedback that informs Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and therapeutic interventions.
Relational Approach: Build secure attachments with students, using trauma-informed practices to foster a safe learning environment.
Why this is the perfect "Bridge" Role
Clinical Exposure: Work alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), and Educational Psychologists.
Professional Development: Gain certified training in specialised areas like Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
Founding Influence: As a brand-new school, you will be part of establishing the school's therapeutic culture from the ground up.
Work-Life Balance: The term-time-only schedule (39 weeks/year) provides ample time for further study, research, or application writing during school holidays.
What We Are Looking For
Educational Background: Experience working in schools with young people with Special Educational Needs. A degree in Psychology would be an advantage.
Analytical Mindset: An interest in understanding the "why" behind behaviour and the patience to implement long-term developmental strategies.
Resilience: The ability to remain calm and objective in challenging or high-arousal situations.
Ambition: Someone eager to learn more about the nuances of SEND education and therapeutic support.
