King's Lynn
Are you ready to be the person who helps a student in King's Lynn find their confidence and their voice?
Do you have the compassion to see past a student's frustration and the heart to celebrate the small, "unseen" victories that happen every day in a specialist classroom?
We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in King's Lynn. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will support students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex physical needs. If you are looking for a career that prioritises empathy over paperwork and impact over routine, this is the perfect opportunity.
Your Daily Impact: Responsibilities
In this King's Lynn setting, you are more than an assistant; you are a mentor and a steady presence:
- 1:1 Personalised Support: Work closely with a specific student or small group, adapting classroom activities into manageable, sensory-friendly steps.
- Communication Support: Assist students using Makaton, PECS, or high-tech communication aids to ensure they can express their needs and choices.
- Emotional Regulation: Act as a "calming anchor" during moments of sensory overload, utilising positive behaviour support and quiet zones to help students feel safe.
- EHCP Progress Tracking: Help the class teacher monitor and record milestones related to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, focusing on social and physical development.
- Inclusive Life Skills: Support students during lunch, break times, and therapeutic sessions (such as hydrotherapy or sensory circuits) to foster independence.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- A "Child-First" Perspective: You see the individual student, not just their diagnosis, and you are committed to their personal growth.
- Resilience & Calm: The ability to stay level-headed and proactive in a fast-paced environment where student needs can change quickly.
- Adaptability: You can pivot your approach based on a student's energy levels, sensory needs, or emotional state.
- Experience: Backgrounds in care, youth work, sports coaching, or education are highly valued, though a coachable and empathetic attitude is most essential.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to obtain one via Randstad).
Why Choose Randstad?
- Competitive Weekly Pay: £90 - £95 per day
- Consistent Schedule: Enjoy the stability of a full-time, term-time role in a local King's Lynn school.
