Are you a passionate and experienced SEND professional looking to make a significant impact from the very beginning? This is a unique opportunity to join a brand-new SEND Secondary School in Merstham as a pivotal member of the leadership team.
Opening its doors as part of a growth strategy by a respected education group, our new school will cater for up to 100 neurodivergent young people aged 11-16. Eighty students will be based at our main site in Merstham, with an additional 20 students supported at our satellite provision in Caterham. As part of a close network of local schools within the group, you and your colleagues will benefit from strong collaborative links, sharing best practice, resources, and participating in joint events.
Our students will have access to a broad, exciting, and personalised curriculum aligned with national standards, designed to meet their individual needs, interests, and passions. We believe in empowering our students by fostering their social communication, sensory processing, and emotional regulation skills. Our model of small classes, high levels of classroom support, and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team ensures every student has the opportunity to achieve and overcome barriers to learning and community access. Our ultimate aim is to prepare students to be independent young people, capable of forming safe, meaningful relationships and confidently pursuing their aspirations in further education, training, or employment.
The appointment of a highly effective SENCO is key to the success of this exciting new venture. Working closely with the Head of School, you will play a crucial role in all aspects of leadership and management. Your responsibilities will include managing and developing learning and teaching, shaping the curriculum, overseeing careers & work experience programmes, leading on assessment, and developing enrichment opportunities throughout the designated phases of the school.
This is a remarkable chance to contribute to the establishment and growth of a school dedicated to providing exceptional education and support. If you are an innovative and dedicated SENCO ready for a rewarding challenge, we would love to hear from you
