Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in ensuring the pupils' well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:
Behavioural Intervention: Using proactive strategies and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours, promoting a safe and secure learning environment.
Emotional Support: Providing consistent emotional and pastoral support to help pupils develop self-regulation skills and build a sense of self-worth.
Learning Facilitation: Working closely with the class teacher to help pupils access a differentiated curriculum and engage with lessons in a way that works for them.
Personalised Support: Delivering tailored support to individual pupils or small groups, following specific plans and targets.
Collaboration: Working as a key member of a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists and support staff, to provide holistic care for pupils.
Progress Tracking: Accurately observing and documenting pupil progress and behaviour, providing valuable feedback to the wider team.
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Demonstrable experience working with children with complex behavioural, social, or emotional needs in a school or specialist setting.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but extensive, relevant experience is paramount.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils and making a lasting, positive impact.
