The Role
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (with Temp-to-Perm opportunities for the right candidate)
Daily Rate: £90 - £110 (depending on experience)
This is a vital role supporting students with a variety of complex needs. You will be working with learners who may be non-verbal or have profound and multiple learning difficulties, requiring a high level of physical and emotional support.
Required Skills
Communication Flair: An interest or proficiency in BSL (British Sign Language), Makaton, or PECS is highly advantageous.
Sensory Awareness: The ability to support students with sensory processing needs and adapt environments accordingly.
Resilience: A calm, patient approach when supporting students with ASD who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
Nurturing Nature: A genuine commitment to providing high-quality care for students with PMLD.
Duties
Individualised Support: Working 1-to-1 with students to help them engage with a sensory-based curriculum.
Personal Care: Assisting with all aspects of personal care, including feeding, changing, and manual handling (hoisting) where required.
Communication Support: Acting as a "communication partner" to help non-verbal students express their needs and choices.
MUST
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for a new one).
Valid and proven right to work in the UK.
Previous experience supporting children or adults with complex needs (PMLD, ASD, or sensory impairments).
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or relevant experience in Nursing/Care.
