TasksAs SENDCo, your key responsibilities will include promoting best practices in teaching and learning, developing and implementing a high-quality curriculum tailored to the diverse needs of our students, managing and coordinating all aspects of SEND provision, and collaborating effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies. This includes overseeing the identification of meaningful post-16 destinations and implementing successful transition plans. You will also play a critical role in advising and assisting school leadership on the strategic development of SEN policy and provision.
SkillsThe ideal candidate will possess QTS or QTLS, a proven track record of excellence in teaching within a SEND environment, experience in leading and managing teams, and strong communication skills. Desirable qualifications include accredited training in specific areas of special education (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia) and a leadership/management qualification (NPQSL/H/SENDCo or willingness to achieve within 2 years). The ability to manage complex situations, resolve conflicts, and build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is essential.
