The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial aspects of MEP fit-out for a Rail Depot contract in East London.
They will work within the MEP commercial team, liaising with all project sections, and report to the MEP Commercial Manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial acumen, problem-solving skills, and effective communication. A flexible work approach is welcomed.
This is a freelance role for 12 months paid INSIDE IR35. Hybrid working is available with 2 days per week from home.
Previous RAIL fitout MEP experience eg Crossrail stations / Depots is highly desirable

Responsibilities include:
* Managing commercial personnel responsible for contract and subcontract administration, supply chain management, document control, cost control, commercial reporting, and planning.
* Cash management and liaison with the client's commercial/project team.
* Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
* Preparing and issuing valuations and reports.
* Ensuring compliance with company and contract requirements.
* Maintaining commercial records and overseeing contractual issues.
* Mentoring and developing the commercial team.
* Drafting subcontract works information, site information, and tender documentation.
* Subcontract data preparation, contractual option selection, variation scheduling, and pricing schedule drafting.
* Tender review and validation of reports and recommendations.
* Subcontract review for governance and execution.
* Commercial support for subcontract packages, including change control.
* Budget setting, forecasting, and reporting.
* Implementing and delivering strategic objectives and change programs.
* Developing and implementing procurement and contract strategies.
* Understanding and implementing Environment and Sustainability Policies.
* Supporting the MEP team in ECI subcontract design and negotiations.
* Resource planning and recruitment support.
* Input into MEP procurement, identifying high-risk packages and products.
* Supporting the development and implementation of Stage Two mobilization and construction phase plans for MEP works.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Post-graduate commercial experience in construction.
* Strong financial and commercial acumen.
* Proven negotiation and team leadership skills.
* Experience drafting contractual correspondence and facilitating collaborative solutions.
* Experience setting up and operating office management systems, including document control.
* Experience with technical minute-taking and report preparation (payment certificates, interim/closeout reports).
* Demonstrable legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
* Experience implementing strategic objectives and change programs.
* Experience developing and implementing procurement and contract strategies.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
