Ready to lead the commercial strategy on major water infrastructure projects? We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our specialist Water services team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who is passionate about protecting margins, driving value, and mentoring a team.
This is a freelance role offering a day rate of £500 (inside IR35), based in our clients Reading and Bracknell offices. You will work a flexible hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

Your Responsibilities:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be a key leader in the commercial team. Your main duties will be to:
Drive Commercial Success: Take the lead on commercial and financial management at a project level, preparing accurate cost plans, forecasts, CVRs, and cash flow reports. You will be responsible for submitting client applications for payment and ensuring timely cash collection.
Master Contract Administration: Oversee all subcontract procurement, from tendering and negotiation to final administration. You will manage contract changes, value and negotiate variations, and administer all claims and compensation events under NEC/JCT contracts.
Lead and Mentor: Act as a key liaison for clients, subcontractors, and our internal teams. You'll attend all project meetings, deliver accurate cost reports, and mentor junior team members to help them develop their skills.
Mitigate Risk: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks while seeking out opportunities to enhance value. Your sharp commercial acumen will be vital to the project's profitability and success.
What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a commercially astute and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in Quantity Surveying.
Experience: You should have several years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor-typically 5+ years-with a background in civil, infrastructure, telecoms, or utilities projects.
Contract Expertise: Proven experience in administering NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4) is essential. Knowledge of JCT contracts or the IChemE Burgundy Book is also highly desirable.
Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are a must. You should be detail-oriented with a strong commercial mindset.
Qualifications: An HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
Other: A full UK driving license and the willingness to travel to project sites as required.
