Senior Social Worker - Assessment and Intervention Team

Pay Rate: £31.74 per hour
As a Senior Social Worker in the Assessment and Intervention Team, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, undertaking statutory assessments, and delivering targeted interventions to children in need and their families.
Roles and Responsibilities:
...- Undertaking comprehensive and timely statutory assessments of children and families in line with the Children Act 1989.
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing robust and effective multi-agency support plans to meet identified needs and mitigate risks.
- Managing a complex caseload of 'Child in Need' (CiN) cases, from initial referral through to case closure or transfer to long-term teams.
- Carrying out Section 47 enquiries where there are concerns of significant harm and working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure children's safety.
- Providing expert advice, guidance, and support to less experienced social workers and team members.
- Preparing high-quality reports and documentation for court proceedings, child protection conferences, and other formal meetings.
- Working in partnership with children, young people, and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and they are central to the planning process.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in line with council policies and procedures.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the service by participating in team meetings, training, and development activities.
Key Requirements:
- You must be a Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
- Current registration with Social Work England is essential.
- An updated and clear Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
- Proven experience in a statutory children's social care setting, preferably within an assessment or child protection team.
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to child welfare and safeguarding.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a demanding caseload.
