About the Role:
As a Slinger on our commercial project, you will be the vital link between the ground-based crew and the telehandler operators. Your precision and communication skills are essential for maintaining a smooth and safe workflow. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Directing lifting operations for the telehandler, providing clear and concise signals to the operator.
- Inspecting and preparing loads to be lifted, ensuring they are secure and balanced.
- Selecting and attaching the correct lifting accessories (e.g., chains, slings, shackles).
- Guiding the telehandler to place materials accurately and safely.
- Maintaining a clear and safe working area around lifting operations.
- Liaising closely with telehandler operators and site management.
- Adhering strictly to all site health and safety regulations, with a particular focus on lifting operations.
- Carrying out general labouring duties as required to support the wider team.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Slinger on a large construction site, ideally with knowledge of telehandler operations.
- Holds a valid CSCS card and a Slinger/Signaller ticket (e.g., CPCS or NPORS).
- Has an impeccable understanding of site safety and a proactive approach to risk management.
- Able to provide clear, effective signals and communicate well with colleagues.
- Reliable & Punctual: Someone who is dependable and committed to the role.
- Ability to pass an advance vetting process (similar to a DBS).
