Nottingham City Council is seeking a skilled and resilient Social Worker to join its Emergency Duty Team (EDT). This is an opportunity to be a crucial part of the out-of-hours service, providing immediate social work support to both children and adults in crisis when day services are closed. The role is demanding yet highly rewarding, requiring a professional who can operate autonomously and make sound, defensible decisions under pressure to safeguard the most vulnerable members of the community.
Summary of the Role
The Social Worker will be the first point of contact for urgent referrals and crisis situations outside of normal office hours.
The position involves working collaboratively with a range of partner agencies, including the police, health services, and other emergency responders.
The post-holder will be expected to participate in a rota, which will include evening, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.
This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £38.00 and a supportive environment with a firm commitment to continuous professional development and regular supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to emergency referrals concerning vulnerable children, young people, and adults.
Conduct urgent and complex assessments of risk and need in crisis situations.
Provide professional advice and guidance to other professionals and members of the public.
Make critical, proportionate, and defensible decisions to ensure the immediate safety and well-being of individuals.
Maintain accurate and timely records of all interventions in line with statutory and departmental procedures.
Work proactively to promote good relationships with a range of professionals and agencies.
