Join our compassionate and forward-thinking team as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Teacher to design and deliver an inclusive curriculum that meets the unique needs of our students, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.
The Role :
As an SEN Teacher, you'll be a key part of our school community, responsible for the education and well-being of students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs. You will develop and implement personalized learning strategies, ensuring each student receives the tailored support they need to thrive. This role is about more than just teaching; it's about building a foundation for lifelong learning and independence.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Curriculum Planning and Delivery: Design and implement engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to the specific learning styles and needs of students with SEN.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create, monitor, and review comprehensive IEPs in collaboration with parents, students, and other professionals, ensuring goals are ambitious and achievable.
- Assessment and Reporting: Conduct ongoing assessments to track student progress, analyze data, and provide detailed reports to parents and the leadership team.
- Classroom Management: Establish a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment that promotes learning, good behavior, and emotional regulation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other support staff to provide a holistic and integrated approach to student support.
- Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and best practices in special education, and participate in ongoing training to enhance your skills.
- Parental Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress and involving them in the educational process.
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): A recognized teaching qualification is essential.
- SEN Experience: Proven experience teaching students with a range of special educational needs.
- Adaptability and Creativity: The ability to think on your feet, adapt teaching methods, and create innovative learning materials.
- Patience and Empathy: A deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and the ability to respond with compassion and patience.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Resilience and Dedication: A commitment to the long-term success of every student and the resilience to handle the demands of the role.
- Specialist Knowledge (Desirable): A postgraduate qualification or specialized training in an area of special education (e.g., autism, dyslexia) is highly desirable.
