We're looking for someone to provide essential 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Key Responsibilities:
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the pupils' well-being and academic progress. Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering bespoke support to pupils with complex and profound learning difficulties, following individualised learning plans and targets.
Using alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or visual timetables to help pupils express themselves.
Providing calm, consistent support to help pupils manage sensory needs and regulate their emotions in a supportive environment.
Assisting with personal care duties as required, always ensuring the dignity, safety, and well-being of the pupils.
Working closely with the class teacher and a multi-disciplinary team, including therapists, to provide holistic support.
Meticulously tracking and celebrating even the smallest steps of progress, providing valuable feedback to the wider team.
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Demonstrable experience working with children with complex or profound Special Educational Needs in a specialist school or care setting.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but extensive, relevant experience is paramount.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly advantageous.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
