About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and meticulous Part-Time Stores and Inventory Specialist to join our independent transport and engineering company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking flexible hours, including those who are semi-retired, to contribute their industry knowledge in a crucial support role. You will be responsible for the efficient running of our parts department, ensuring the workshop has the necessary components to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management: Manage the intake, storage, and issuance of vehicle parts, tools, and consumables for our busy workshop.
Stock Control: Maintain accurate stock records using our computerised inventory system, conducting regular cycle counts and full stock-takes.
Ordering and Procurement: Identify low stock levels, raise purchase orders, and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and best value.
Supplier Liaison: Handle returns, invoice queries, and build positive relationships with external suppliers.
Workshop Support: Issue parts to technicians and ensure all workshop consumable supplies are maintained.
Organisation: Keep the parts area clean, tidy, and logically organised to maximise efficiency and minimise search time.
Hours and Salary
Hours: 20-25 hours per week. We are flexible and happy to discuss specific scheduling requirements.
Salary: £14.00 - £18.00 per hour, depending on experience and sector knowledge.
Required Skills and Experience
Industry Experience: Previous experience as a Stores Person or in an inventory management role is essential.
Sector Knowledge: Ideally, you will have a background in the Automotive, HGV, Bus, Coach, or Truck sectors, or experience as a former Mechanic/Technician. This technical knowledge is highly valued for accurate parts identification.
Attention to Detail: Excellent numerical and clerical skills for managing parts numbers, invoices, and stock locations accurately.
Computer Skills: Competent in using inventory software and standard Microsoft Office programs (or equivalent).
Organisation: A highly organised and methodical approach to managing a busy and diverse stock area.
