Essential Requirements
The agency is looking for a qualified professional who can bring expertise and enthusiasm to their team:
Qualification: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England (SWE) or Social Care Wales. Support is available for professionals transferring their registration.
Experience: A minimum of two years' experience in a children's social work setting, whether within an Independent Fostering Agency (IFA), Local Authority, or NHS.
Background: Candidates with experience in Fostering, Adoption, Looked After Children (LAC), or a CAMHS Therapeutic background are encouraged to apply.
Knowledge: Demonstrable strong knowledge of safeguarding, Care Planning, and effective multi-agency working.
Skills: Excellent organisational and communication skills are paramount.
Driving: Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
Summary of the Role
The post-holder will be instrumental in maintaining the high standard of care provided by the agency by offering professional supervision and support to their dedicated foster carers.
This role requires a proactive approach to statutory duties, including complex assessments, care planning, and the safeguarding of vulnerable young people.
The Senior Supervising Social Worker will act as a key liaison, building crucial partnerships with Local Authorities and external professionals.
They will also play a key role in the training and development of carers and the ongoing quality assurance of fostering provision by sitting on fostering panels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and offer in-depth support to a defined caseload of approximately 12 foster carers, including monthly statutory supervision and regular home visits.
Execute all safeguarding, risk assessments, and care planning duties rigorously, adhering to the agency's policies and Social Care Wales standards.
Attend all necessary reviews, professional meetings, and provide a timely and effective response to crises as required.
Contribute significantly to foster carer annual reviews and prepare and present comprehensive reports to the fostering panel when necessary.
Co-lead carer training sessions in collaboration with the Deputy Manager, who acts as the agency's training lead.
Participate in fostering panels on a periodic basis (typically scheduled for Thursdays, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm).
Forge and sustain robust partnerships with local authorities and other multi-agency professionals to ensure joined-up care.
Champion and uphold the organisation's values, ensuring all professional activities are centred on a child-focused, safe, and nurturing approach.
