About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Engineering for a maternity cover position in a forward-thinking secondary school in Leeds, with the possibility of becoming permanent. This full-time role is available from September 2025 and involves teaching Key Stage 4 and 5 Engineering, supporting students to develop both academic understanding and practical expertise.

Essential Requirements
... - QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a recognised teaching qualification
- Specialism in Engineering, Product Design, DT, or a related subject
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
- Experience teaching Key Stage 4 and/or Key Stage 5 Engineering
Skills
- Knowledge of engineering principles and CAD/CAM software
- Excellent communication and teamwork
- Creative and practical lesson design
- Industry insight or experience (desirable)
- Use of technology to support learning
- Ability to inspire and motivate students with hands-on learning
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and practical Engineering lessons at KS4 and KS5
- Prepare students for external assessments and technical qualifications
- Promote STEM careers and employer engagement opportunities
- Participate in whole-school CPD and subject-specific development
- Support students with coursework and project work
- Liaise with colleagues, parents, and industry partners
- Ensure high standards of health and safety in the classroom/workshop
- Foster a growth mindset and positive learning culture
- Contribute to curriculum planning and subject enrichment
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection practices at all times
- Demonstrate a passion for technical education and innovation
