Are you an experienced, highly motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking to reclaim your work-life balance? Whether you thrive on the complete flexibility of day-to-day cover or prefer the pedagogical continuity of a long-term placement, we have fantastic opportunities tailored to your professional lifestyle.
We are currently partnering with an established portfolio of primary schools, junior schools, and academies throughout Cambridge and the surrounding areas. We are experiencing high demand for adaptable, passionate HLTAs who can step up to lead classrooms, deliver pre-planned lessons, and support teachers in raising pupil attainment across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
Whether you are an experienced HLTA seeking a change of pace without the administrative pressures of full-time class planning, or an aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable independent classroom delivery experience, we can help you find your perfect balance.
Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
Day-to-Day Cover: Take complete control of your schedule. Choose exactly which days you want to work to perfectly fit around your personal commitments, studies, or lifestyle. It is a fantastic way to experience different school settings.
Long-Term Opportunities: If you prefer stability, we have fixed-term HLTA roles spanning a term or a full academic year. This is the perfect way to truly embed yourself within a school team, deliver consistent intervention programs, cover scheduled PPA time, and see your pupils progress over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Cover: Confidently take whole-class responsibility to cover planned teacher absences, scheduled PPA time, or short-term sickness, delivering pre-planned lessons across various primary subjects.
Targeted Interventions: Plan, prepare, and deliver small-group or 1:1 interventions in literacy, numeracy, and phonics to help bridge learning gaps and boost pupil confidence.
Collaboration: Work closely alongside class teachers to assess pupil progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt learning resources to suit diverse needs.
Learning Environment: Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment, utilising strong behaviour management skills to keep pupils motivated and focused.
What We Look For:
HLTA Status (or equivalent Level 4 qualification), or a recognised foundation degree in education. Experienced primary teachers looking for HLTA work are also highly welcomed.
Proven experience independently leading whole classes within a primary school setting (EYFS, KS1, or KS2).
Excellent knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and primary age-group development.
Outstanding communication skills, a proactive attitude, and confident classroom management.
A valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
Benefits of Working With Us:
Competitive rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level.
A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the Cambridge and Cambridgeshire primary education sectors.
A completely transparent service that works strictly around your personal availability.
