We're looking for someone to provide vital support to pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Teaching Assistant in this specialist setting, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:
Confidently implementing positive handling and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
Acting as a trusted and consistent adult, providing emotional support to help pupils manage their feelings and anxieties.
Supporting the delivery of personalised learning plans and helping pupils to access a modified curriculum.
Fostering strong, trusting relationships with pupils, their families, and staff to create a cohesive support network.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all pupils at all times, with a firm commitment to safeguarding protocols.
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each pupil's needs.
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and rewarding role, you must have:
Proven experience working with children with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs, preferably in a specialist school or alternative provision.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but extensive, relevant experience is paramount.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature is essential.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a calm approach to complex situations.
Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
