Teaching Assistant Position at Cranleigh SEN School
Are you a recent psychology graduate looking to apply your academic knowledge in a practical, impactful setting? We're seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a well-regarded special educational needs (SEN) school in Cranleigh. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable, hands-on experience in child development and educational psychology.
Key Responsibilities
Support Applied Learning: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering a curriculum that caters to diverse cognitive and learning profiles.
Behavioural and Emotional Support: Provide targeted support to students, helping to regulate behaviour and foster emotional resilience in a classroom environment.
Individualised Intervention: Implement and support individualised learning plans, using your understanding of psychological principles to aid students with specific learning and social-emotional needs.
Contribute to a Positive Environment: Help create a predictable and supportive classroom that promotes student well-being and a sense of belonging.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in psychological principles and a genuine desire to work with children.
Experience: While direct experience in a school setting is beneficial, it's not essential. We highly value a theoretical understanding of child development, cognitive processes, and behaviour.
Skills: You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high degree of empathy, and the ability to apply a calm and patient approach to complex situations. Strong organisational skills are also key.
Qualifications: A degree in Psychology, or a related field, is highly advantageous. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate an interest in further professional development related to educational psychology or SEN.
Why This Role?
This full-time position offers a unique chance to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application. You will be an integral part of a supportive team, contributing directly to the educational and personal growth of children with complex needs. We offer a competitive salary and professional development opportunities to help you build a rewarding career.
If you are passionate about applying your psychological knowledge to support the well-being and education of children, we encourage you to apply now. For more details, please contact Paul on 01293 527416.
