The Role of a Teaching Assistant
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the classroom team, directly supporting pupil learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils, following their individualised curriculum plans.
Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons and activities that focus on core subjects, communication, and essential life skills.
Implement behaviourally-based support strategies to promote positive outcomes and reduce behaviours that impact the pupil's quality of life.
Monitor and accurately record pupil progress to ensure teaching is effective and appropriate for each child's needs.
Support pupils' participation in trips and community-based learning, applying skills learned in the classroom to real-life situations.
Assist with personal care where required (e.g., toileting, feeding) to encourage and enable acceptable levels of hygiene and independence.
Assist with breaktime duties and contribute to a positive, welcoming classroom environment.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this vital position, you must meet the following criteria:
UK Experience: Proven professional, personal, or voluntary experience working with children or adults with complex learning disabilities or special educational needs (SEN) in a UK setting.
Transport: A valid UK driving licence and access to your own reliable transport are essential due to the school's location near Cranleigh.

Qualifications: Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent.
