Are you passionate about supporting young people with diverse learning needs to help them achieve their full potential? Are you a patient, resilient, and creative individual looking for a truly rewarding career?
A specialist school in the heart of Surrey is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people, helping them to overcome challenges and flourish in a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.
Our school provides a broad and balanced curriculum for students aged 11-16 who have found it difficult to succeed in mainstream education. We are committed to fostering a calm and positive learning atmosphere where every student is valued and encouraged to build their confidence, independence, and skills for a successful future.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our students' learning and well-being. Working closely with our experienced teachers, you will:
- Provide tailored support to students with a range of needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, in both individual and small group settings.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging lessons and activities that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment, helping to manage behaviour and promote student engagement.
- Support the social and emotional development of our students, acting as a positive role model.
- Contribute to the ongoing assessment and recording of student progress.
- Participate in our commitment to a holistic approach to education, which may include supporting students in off-site activities and vocational training.
About You:
We are looking for an individual with a genuine desire to work with young people with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or support setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature.
- A proactive and flexible approach to their work.
- A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- A willingness to undertake training and professional development, including in positive behaviour support techniques.
While previous experience in a special educational needs setting is advantageous, it is not essential. A positive attitude and a strong commitment to our school's values are of the utmost importance.
Why Join Us?
This is more than just a job; it is a chance to be part of a close-knit team dedicated to transforming young lives. We offer:
- A comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development programme.
