The Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? We are thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new SEND Secondary School in Chaldon, Surrey.
Opened in September 2025, this school will support students aged 11-16 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, typically associated with Autism. This is a rare opportunity to join a school at the very start of its journey and help shape a supportive, high-achieving environment from the ground up.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, your mission is to ensure every student has the "opportunity to achieve." You will work within small classes with high support ratios, alongside a multidisciplinary intervention team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Building Relationships: Establishing positive, trusting bonds with pupils to help them feel safe and ready to learn.
Tailored Support: Implementing and adjusting learning activities to meet the specific needs, interests, and passions of each student.
Behavioural Support: Using a tailored approach to manage positive behaviour, maintaining concentration levels, and adapting to the individual needs of the child.
Independence: Encouraging personal development and life skills, helping students reach their full potential.
Safeguarding: Acting as a champion for the welfare and wellbeing of all pupils.
What We Are Looking For
Experience or Passion: Previous experience in an SEN environment is a plus, but we value a resilient, empathetic, and patient "can-do" attitude above all.
Adaptability: The ability to pivot your approach based on a student's emotional or sensory needs.
Team Players: People who are excited to be part of a founding team and are willing to work across our main site and nearby satellite site in Caterham when required.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to provide meaningful feedback on pupil progress and behaviour.
Why Join Us?
Be a Founder: Help establish the culture and success of a brand-new educational setting.
Competitive Pay: A salary that reflects your experience and qualifications, plus a generous welcome bonus.
Work-Life Balance: Term-time only hours, allowing you to recharge during school holidays.
Professional Growth: Access to specialised training in Autism, sensory processing, and positive behaviour management.
