Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Serving the Redhill, Caterham & Whyteleafe community)
Are you looking for a role where your patience, empathy, and life experience are actually your greatest assets?
Since opening in September 2025, our brand-new Secondary School for Special Educational Needs has been more than just a place of learning-it's a sanctuary. We aren't looking for a "textbook" educator; we are looking for a founding Mentor and Teaching Assistant who understands that sometimes, the most important part of a student's day is simply being understood.
The Mission: Connection Over Curriculum
Our students (aged 11-16) are bright, capable young people who navigate challenges with social communication and emotional regulation. In this role, you aren't just "assisting"; you are a steadying presence.
Working in small, intimate class sizes with a full team of therapists and specialists, you will help bridge the gap between a student's potential and their daily hurdles.
How You'll Make a Difference:
A Grounded Presence: Providing emotional stability and a safe environment for students to grow.
Guidance & Mentoring: Helping young people develop the social tools they need for adulthood.
Practical Support: Collaborating with teachers to make learning accessible, sensory-friendly, and rewarding.
Community Advocacy: Keeping student wellbeing at the heart of everything you do.
Who We Are Looking For
We value character over credentials. If you've raised a family, managed a team, or worked in a role that required deep resilience and communication, you already have the foundation we need.
Your Background: You might be a career changer, a returner to the workforce, or someone from a care/community background.
The Essentials: A calm temperament and GCSE Maths/English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
The Mindset: You see "challenging behavior" as a cry for help or a puzzle to be solved, never as a personal affront.
The Commitment: A desire to be part of a pioneering team and a willingness to learn our specialised approach to Autism support.
A Package That Respects Your Contribution
We believe that meaningful work should come with meaningful support. As a valued member of our founding team, you'll receive:
Professional Development: We fully fund the training and qualifications needed to become a specialist in this field.
Peace of Mind: Enhanced Pension, Life Assurance, and a comprehensive Health Cash Back Plan.
Wellness Support: Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and a collaborative, supportive work culture.
Everyday Perks: High street discounts (Perkbox), Bike to Work and Car Lease schemes, and free on-site parking.
Start Your Second Act Today
If you're ready to trade the "daily grind" for a role that leaves a lasting impact on a young person's life, we'd love to speak with you.
