Teaching Assistant
£14.24 - £15.35 per hour
Royston
Are you an attentive, motivated teaching assistant eager to join a primary classroom after half term and inspire young pupils to achieve their best?
Do you bring the empathy, patience, and initiative needed to conduct targeted booster sessions while reinforcing positive classroom routines?
Are you seeking an ongoing, full-time teaching assistant position starting post-half term, or adaptable day-to-day supply shifts across Royston primary schools?
Randstad Education is currently seeking committed Teaching Assistants for an immediate post-half-term placement on a long-term basis at an inviting partner primary school in Royston. In tandem with this ongoing contract, we are registering adaptable support staff for flexible supply cover across KS1 and KS2 classes. Whether your preference is a steady, dedicated classroom post or the variety of flexible daily supply assignments, this partner school provides an engaging, inclusive setting committed to student achievement and emotional well-being.
Core Duties
- Small-Group Learning Boosts: Collaborate with teaching staff to guide structured interventions in reading, phonics, and practical maths for pupils needing tailored support (or deliver agile assistance across varying classes on supply).
- Resource Coordination: Prepare multisensory learning aids, organise table-top activities, and keep teaching areas safe, tidy, and ready for instruction.
- Dedicated 1:1 Assistance: Provide focused, compassionate support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or English as an Additional Language (EAL) to build confidence and independence.
- Attainment & Behaviour Monitoring: Track pupil engagement, identify learning hurdles, and communicate constructive updates directly to class teachers and the SENCO.
- Behaviour Guidance: Promote and uphold positive behaviour systems throughout classroom sessions, lunchtime supervision, and playground recreation.
- Collaborative Communication: Partner seamlessly with fellow educators during lessons or ensure detailed handover feedback is left at the end of each supply booking.
Candidate Profile
- Experience & Credentials: Background working with primary pupils (within schools, early years settings, or youth programmes) or holding a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
- Essential Skills: Competent numeracy and literacy skills, familiarity with modern phonics teaching, and an understanding of inclusive behaviour strategies.
- Demeanour & Flexibility: A composed, supportive, and approachable nature, comfortable adjusting to fixed classroom routines or dynamic supply cover across multiple year groups.
- Team Ethos: A cooperative, reliable attitude committed to school-wide safeguarding, child development, and pupil safety.
- Vetting & Compliance: Holds an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a check via Randstad).
