The Opportunity
Gateshead Council is looking for an ambitious and resilient Team Manager to lead our Children's Residential services. This is a pivotal leadership role designed for someone who is passionate about creating a "home-away-from-home" environment for our most vulnerable young people.
You will be responsible for the operational management of the setting, ensuring that high-quality care, therapeutic support, and safety are at the forefront of everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Vision: Provide clear, professional leadership to a team of residential support workers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Ofsted Readiness: Maintain high standards of practice in line with Quality Standards and Ofsted regulations, striving for "Good" or "Outstanding" outcomes.
Resource Management: Oversee budgets, staffing rotas, and the general upkeep of the residential environment.
Safeguarding: Act as the lead for safeguarding within the home, ensuring robust risk assessments and care plans are in place for every child.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with social workers, health professionals, and educational providers to ensure holistic care.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will need:
Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or management capacity within a children's residential setting.
Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/willingness to work toward).
Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations (2015) and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF).
Skills: Excellent crisis management skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire a diverse workforce.
