We are seeking an inspirational and dynamic Team Manager to lead our dedicated Connected Carers Team (also known as Kinship or Family and Friends Care). This is a vital role focused on ensuring children remain safely and successfully within their wider family circle, offering the necessary support and expertise to our carers and social workers.
What You'll Be Doing
As the Team Manager, you will be responsible for the operational management and strategic development of the Connected Carers Team, which includes:
Leadership and Supervision: Providing high-quality, reflective supervision and professional development for a team of experienced social workers.
Case Management Oversight: Ensuring all assessments (viability, full kinship/F&F assessments, Special Guardianship Assessments) are thorough, timely, and of high quality, adhering to statutory requirements and best practice.
Service Development: Driving continuous improvement in how we identify, assess, approve, and support connected carers, fostering a culture of excellence and strong partnership working across the service.
Resource Management: Effectively managing the team's resources, including budgets, caseloads, and administrative support.
Decision Making: Acting as a crucial decision-maker in complex cases, advising on court processes, and liaising with legal services and the wider Children's Services management team.
Advocacy: Championing the needs of connected carers and the children in their care within the local authority and with external partners.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA/MA in Social Work).
Current Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Work, specifically in fostering, adoption, or kinship care.
Proven experience in managing or supervising a social work team.
Demonstrable expert knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and guidance related to Connected Carers, Kinship Care, Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs), and care planning.
Exceptional communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
