Position:-Social Worker Permanent Team Manager at Oldham Council's Children's Services.
Team Manager Children in our Care (CIOC) £49,764.00 - £52,805.00
The role involves leading a social work team, managing staff, overseeing service delivery, budgeting, and contributing to strategic service improvement.
Key responsibilities include staff management (recruitment, supervision, appraisal), budget oversight, ensuring effective care plans, handling complaints, collaborating with agencies, and contributing to service strategy and quality assurance. This is an exciting opportunity to join Children in Our Care (Previously Permanence) as a Team Manager to manage one of our 4 SW teams made up of 5 SW's support by an AP with caseloads of children & young people in care aged up to 18 years.
- Ensure the safety, well-being, and development of these children are consistently promoted in line with statutory guidance and local policies.
- Help conduct comprehensive and analytical assessments, such as Single Assessments, Child Permanence Reports, and Pathway Plans (for older children transitioning to adulthood).
- Identify strengths, needs, risks, and protective factors within the child's network to ensure a holistic understanding of their circumstances.
- Engage directly and meaningfully with children and young people of all ages to build strong professional relationships.
- Empower children to express their wishes and feelings and actively participate in decisions about their care, education, and future.
- Collaborate proactively with a wide range of multi-agency partners, including foster carers, residential staff, health professionals, education providers, and other statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Ensure a coordinated, integrated, and holistic package of support for children and young people in care.
- Prepare high-quality, evidence-based reports for statutory and legal forums, such as Looked After Reviews and court proceedings.
- Actively participate in court, which may include drafting statements and giving oral evidence to support judicial decision-making.
Essential requirements include a Social Work Degree, Social Work England registration, relevant post-qualifying award, and experience in managing staff, formal supervision, and ensuring child-focused care. The role also requires an Enhanced DBS and is an essential car user.
