We are looking for a highly responsible and proactive Traffic Marshall to join our team on a busy commercial construction project in Huddersfield. This role will begin with an initial week's cover work, with the potential of extending into a long-term contract for the right candidate who demonstrates excellent performance and reliability.
The Role:
As a traffic marshall, you will be crucial in maintaining site safety and efficient logistics. Your primary responsibility will be to manage vehicle and pedestrian movements, ensuring the safety of all personnel and the public around the site entrance and within designated areas. Key duties include:
- Controlling Site Access: Safely managing the entry and exit of all vehicles (HGVs, vans, cars) and personnel onto and off the site.
- Directing Traffic: Guiding vehicle movements using clear hand signals and verbal communication to prevent collisions and ensure smooth flow.
- Pedestrian Safety: Ensuring pedestrians are kept separate from vehicle movements and providing safe routes.
- Delivery Management: Liaising with delivery drivers, ensuring vehicles are positioned safely for loading/unloading, and signing in/out materials.
- Site Security: Monitoring the site gate, ensuring only authorised personnel enter the site.
- Reporting: Promptly reporting any incidents, near misses, or safety breaches to site management.
- Site Tidiness: Assisting with maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the site entrance and compound area.
- Adhering strictly to all site health and safety regulations and company policies.
Role Requirements:
- Valid Traffic Marshall / Vehicle Banksman qualification is essential.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Proven experience as a traffic marshall or gateman on a commercial construction site.
- Excellent communication and observational skills.
- Strong understanding of site health and safety procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and a proactive approach to site safety.
- Ability to remain calm and authoritative in a busy environment.
- Own PPE (hard hat, safety boots, high-vis vest).
- Preferably own transport, or ability to reliably commute to the Huddersfield area.
