We have an initially temporary Yard Operative role available within Holcim's Asphalt site. This role is ideal for someone with previous yard, gatehouse, or traffic management experience. However, applicants with a proactive nature and holding strong communication skills will be considered.
Role: Yard Operative
Location: Holcim, Bardon Hill Quarry, Coalville, LE65 1TL
Rate: £13.45 per hour
Contract length: Ongoing temporary
Shift Patterns: 4 on 4 off shift pattern (5:00am - 5:00pm). Please note: Full training will be provided Monday to Friday for the first month before moving to the 4 on 4 off pattern. Candidates must be fully committed to the 5am start times prior to interview.
Start: ASAP
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out driver and contractor inductions
- Conducting drug and alcohol testing as required
- Managing gatehouse duties and directing site traffic
- General site tidy up and maintenance
- Enforcing Holcim's site safety rules and regulations to lorry drivers
Essential requirements:
- Driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Ability to adhere to early starts (5:00am) and work the 4 on 4 off shift pattern listed above
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable requirements:
- Previous experience in a yard, gatehouse, traffic management, or industrial environment
- Prior experience with contractor/driver inductions or basic health & safety compliance
