Your Role as a Year 2 Teacher
As a key member of our KS1 team, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment. Your main tasks will include:
Lesson Planning & Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and creative lessons that are fully aligned with the Key Stage 1 national curriculum.
Classroom Environment: Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom where every child feels valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.
Assessment for Learning: Monitor, assess, and record student progress, using formative and summative data effectively to inform and adapt your teaching strategies.
Differentiated Instruction: Adapt your teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, ensuring every child can achieve their full potential. This includes providing support for pupils with SEND and challenging high-achievers.
Parent Partnership: Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and carers through regular, clear, and effective communication.
Team Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with teaching assistants, fellow KS1 colleagues, and the wider school community to share best practices.
Safeguarding: Uphold a steadfast and proactive commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all children, adhering to all school policies.
Curriculum Contribution: Contribute to the overall development and success of the Year 2 team and the KS1 curriculum.
Required Skills and Qualifications for this Year 2 Teacher Role
We are looking for a primary teacher who can demonstrate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Experience: Proven experience teaching in a primary school, ideally within KS1 (Year 1 or Year 2). Applications from outstanding ECTs are welcome.
Curriculum Knowledge: A strong and current understanding of the Key Stage 1 national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
Classroom Management: Excellent classroom management skills that foster a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
Differentiated Instruction: A proven ability to plan and deliver lessons that cater to a range of learning needs and styles.
Communication: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Collaboration: A strong ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
