We are seeking a Qualified Year 2 Teacher (QTS) to join our partner Primary School based in Baldock for a long-term placement starting in September 2026. This school supports pupils through their crucial early transitions, focusing heavily on core literacy, numeracy development, and social-emotional growth. We are looking for an educational leader who sees individual potential, designs highly engaging learning pathways, and fosters an environment where every young student can achieve their full potential.
Your Responsibilities
- Bespoke Curriculum Design: Plan, differentiate, and deliver high-impact lessons tailored to the specific learning paces and needs of your pupils, aligning strictly with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum framework.
- Literacy & Phonics Integration: Seamlessly incorporate functional communication strategies, continuous reading focus, and systematic synthetic phonics programs into your daily teaching.
- Classroom Team Leadership: Direct, inspire, and manage a dedicated team of classroom Teaching Assistants within your room, ensuring a coordinated, safe, and positive approach to learning and behaviour support.
- Holistic Assessment: Utilise primary assessment frameworks and regular formative trackers to accurately monitor, record, and celebrate pupil progress.
- Phase Team Liaison: Collaborate regularly with phase leaders, early years practitioners, and lower Key Stage 2 professionals to ensure consistent development and smooth year-to-year transitions.
- Parental Partnerships: Maintain sensitive, transparent, and encouraging communication with parents and carers, establishing a consistent network of support.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A proven track record of teaching within a UK primary school, Key Stage 1 setting, or specialised early years provision.
- Specialist Subject Knowledge: A deep understanding of adaptive teaching pedagogy, positive behaviour management strategies, and the complexities associated with early childhood milestones.
- Emotional Resilience: A calm, grounded, and patient demeanour, with the ability to lead a classroom confidently during periods of high student energy or learning anxieties.
- Collaborative Spirit: A genuine desire to work as part of a highly unified, school-wide team that puts the holistic well-being of the child first.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
