Your Role as a Year 6 Learning Support Assistant
As a Year 6 LSA, you will be a key part of the classroom, working closely with the teacher to create a positive and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Targeted Academic Support: Leading individual and small-group interventions to close learning gaps in English and Maths, directly impacting pupil progress.
SATs Preparation: Playing an active role in preparing Year 6 pupils for their KS2 SATs, building both their confidence and academic skills.
Emotional & Pastoral Care: Providing crucial emotional support to pupils, helping them navigate the anxieties of exams and the transition to secondary school.
Fostering Independence: Developing pupils' independent learning skills necessary for the next stage of their education.
Classroom Support: Assisting the class teacher with preparing resources, managing the classroom, and supporting school trips and events.
Progress Monitoring: Observing and recording pupil progress and providing valuable feedback to inform teacher planning and assessment.
What You Will Need to Succeed
While formal qualifications are valued, your passion for education and dedication to supporting children are most important.
Experience: Previous experience working with primary school-aged children is highly desirable. Experience with the KS2 curriculum, SATs preparation, or supporting children with SEN would be a significant advantage.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build a strong rapport with pupils, staff, and parents.
Personal Attributes: We are looking for a patient, empathetic, and proactive individual who works effectively as part of a team.
Driving Licence: A valid driving licence is required for this role.
