teaching assistant

salary and career advice.

Teaching assistants (TAs) are extremely important support staff roles in schools. They work side-by-side with teachers in the classroom, helping pupils make progress with their learning. Becoming a teaching assistant is ideal for people who want to work in education and those who can or need to work flexibly.

As a teaching assistant, you can progress to a higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) or move into teaching. For someone with 3-5 years of TA experience working in England, you can expect an average salary of £29,020. As with teaching roles, anyone working in London can expect to earn a higher salary.
