Are you a dedicated Social Worker looking to make a tangible impact in a community-focused authority?
Darlington Borough Council is looking for passionate individuals to join their integrated Adult Social Care team.
In this role you'll work alongside Community Assessment Officers and Occupational Therapists. You will work under the direct, supportive guidance of experienced Team Managers and Senior Practitioners who are committed to your professional growth and wellbeing.
Your Role
This position offers a unique variety of work, splitting focus between immediate response and impactful short-term intervention:
The Front Door: You will be the first point of contact for Adult Social Care. This involves triaging initial requests for assessments, managing safeguarding enquiries, providing vital advice on local services and stepping up to lead in urgent or crisis situations.
Short-Term Casework: You will manage a caseload of adults (18+) with diverse and complex needs for up to 16 weeks. Your goal is proactive empowerment-working closely with service users, families and health professionals to stabilise situations and promote independence.
Key Requirements
Qualified Social Worker: Registered with Social Work England.
Agile Thinker: Ability to pivot between rapid-response "Front Door" work and structured casework.
Collaborator: A team player who values the input of OTs and partner agencies.
Communicator: Capable of navigating sensitive conversations regarding safeguarding and crisis management with empathy and clarity.
