- Are you a passionate and experienced professional dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
- Barnsley Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practitioner to join our dynamic SEND & Disability Team. In this crucial role, you will take a lead in promoting best practice, providing expert advice, and supporting complex casework to ensure children and young people with SEND achieve their full potential.
About the Role:
- As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be instrumental in driving high standards of social care practice within the SEND & Disability Team. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Complex Casework: Managing a caseload of children and young people with complex SEND and disabilities, undertaking statutory assessments, and developing person-centered Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Practice Development: Championing best practice in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice. Providing expert consultation, guidance, and mentoring to social workers and other team members on complex cases and specialist interventions.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Working intensively and collaboratively with children, young people, their families, schools, health partners, and other statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure holistic and integrated support.
- Safeguarding: Ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people with SEND is paramount in all aspects of work, undertaking safeguarding enquiries where necessary.
- Quality Assurance: Contributing to the team's quality assurance framework, including auditing cases, identifying learning needs, and supporting service improvement initiatives.
- Deputising and Support: Providing support to the Team Manager, including deputising in their absence and contributing to team development and performance.
- Promoting Inclusion: Advocating for the rights and inclusion of children and young people with SEND, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met effectively.

Requirements:
- Social Work England registered
- Social Work Degree or equivalent
- Enhanced DBS
Experience:
- Children's Social Work
