We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced BSL Teaching Assistant to join a highly respected SEN secondary school in Luton on a permanent, full-time basis.
You will be working 1:1 with a Key Stage 4 student who is deaf or hearing impaired, supporting them to access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment. Your Responsibilities:
... - Provide tailored 1:1 support using British Sign Language to aid communication and understanding
- Work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to implement individual learning plans
- Support the student's emotional, social, and educational development
- Promote inclusion and independence in the classroom
- Contribute to progress reviews and collaborate with external professionals as needed
Requirements:
- BSL Level 2 qualification (minimum - essential)
- Experience working with students with SEN, particularly hearing impairments
- Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills
- A genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
- A current DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one
