Build & Rig Technician
Location: Peterborough
Position Type: Contract (12 Months, likely to extend)
Hours: Days, Mon-Thu 07:00-15:30, Fri 07:00-12:00 (Flexible start times available)
Pay Rate: Up to £25 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Build & Rig Technician to join a fast-paced development engineering team in Peterborough. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting major development programs by executing engine assembly, strip, fault finding, and test preparation activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on two newly launched, high-priority projects with great visibility and long-term potential.
Key Responsibilities:
... Carry out mechanical assembly, disassembly, strip, and rebuild activities.
Support the rigging and de-rigging of units within test facilities.
Inspect components to ensure they meet quality and engineering standards.
Interpret and work from technical CAD/engineering drawings.
Diagnose faults and support root-cause investigations.
Adhere strictly to site health, safety, and quality standards.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in engine build, strip, assembly, or test house environments.
Backgrounds Considered: Automotive/Motor Vehicle, Aerospace, Military Engineering, or Engine Test Environments.
Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Motor Vehicle Engineering, a completed time-served apprenticeship, or equivalent military/aerospace qualifications.
Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, basic Microsoft Excel knowledge, and the ability to read technical drawings.
