About the Role
Are you an experienced administrator with strong attention to detail and a passion for supporting students?
Randstad is currently recruiting for a Bursary Support Administrator to join the Student Advice and Safeguarding team within a leading Further Education college. In this dynamic, student-facing role, you will coordinate the administration of all college bursaries, assess student applications, and ensure funding is allocated accurately to support learners throughout their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Assessment: Evaluate incoming student bursary applications, verifying supporting documentation, and allocating financial support in accordance with college and funding guidelines.
- Student & Staff Advisory: Act as a key point of contact for bursary-related queries via email, Microsoft Teams, phone, and face-to-face drop-ins at the Student Services Hub front desk.
- Finance Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure timely, regular bursary disbursements throughout the term.
- Data & Systems Management: Maintain accurate, confidential, and auditable records using bespoke systems such as PayMyStudent, Promonitor, and EBS.
- Appeals & Reporting: Assist the Student Support & Safeguarding Manager by compiling documentation for bursary appeals and gathering data to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Information & Compliance: Help update bursary guidance across college channels, uphold equal opportunities, and ensure strict compliance with GDPR.
- General Support: Provide wider administrative cover during peak enrolment periods and participate in Open Events via a team rota.
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Qualifications: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
- Experience: Proven track record in a busy administrative role with strong customer service experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with bespoke administrative software, databases, and IT packages.
- Communication & Care: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the patience and empathy required to interact with young and potentially vulnerable learners.
- Flexibility & Mobility: Willingness to split working hours between both the Cambridge and Huntingdon campuses as needed.
- Compliance: Subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (or an active DBS on the Update Service) and a 6-month probationary period.
Desirable:
- Level 3 Qualification in Business Administration.
- Prior experience working within a Further Education (FE) or Post-16 learning environment.
- Familiarity with education management systems (PayMyStudent, Promonitor, EBS).
