We are seeking a reliable and skilled School Caretaker to join a dedicated site team in the Manchester area. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with a strong "can-do" attitude and a background in trades, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students and staff.
Role Overview
Pay Rate: £16.00 per hour.
Hours: 40 hours per week.
Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts (6:00 AM - 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM).
Overtime: Optional weekend overtime available as required.
Location: Various schools across the Greater Manchester area.
Key Responsibilities
Site Security: Responsibility for the opening and closing of school premises, ensuring all areas are secure.
Maintenance & Repairs: Carrying out essential DIY tasks and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, joinery, and painting.
Health & Safety: Performing regular site inspections, fire alarm testing, and ensuring walkways are clear and safe.
Grounds Upkeep: General maintenance of outdoor areas, including litter picking and seasonal tasks (e.g., gritting during winter).
Contractor Liaison: Assisting external contractors during site visits and ensuring works are completed safely.
Requirements
Trade Background: Previous experience in a trade (Joinery, Plumbing, or general Building Maintenance) is highly preferred.
Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS check is essential for this role.
Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred due to early morning start times.
Reliability: A punctual and dependable approach, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Communication: Good interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with school leadership, staff, and pupils.
