Thinking about getting into teaching but want real classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or Teacher Training? This Cover Supervisor role in Southampton is the perfect launching pad. You'll gain hands-on, paid experience managing classrooms, supporting students, and experiencing secondary school life from the front of the room-all while working school hours with no evening marking or lesson planning!
Responsibilities- Classroom Management: Supervising classes across various subjects during the short-term absence of regular teachers.
- Delivering Work: Ensuring students complete work set by subject teachers in a productive, safe environment.
- Supporting Students: Answering questions, keeping pupils focused, and managing behaviour in line with school policies.
- School Community: Assisting with registration, break duties, and supporting general school activities where required.
- Ideal Teaching Stepping-Stone: Build confidence, master classroom management, and build a strong application for future teacher training.
- Great Work-Life Balance: Set hours (08:30 - 15:30) during term time-no taking work home!
- Diverse Experience: Work across different age groups (Key Stages 3 and 4) and subject areas every day.
- Supportive Environment: Gain insight alongside experienced teachers and leadership teams.
- Degree educated (recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply).
- Strong communication, confidence, resilience, and organisational skills.
- An enthusiastic, adaptable approach with a genuine interest in working with young people.
- An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one).
- Location: Southampton
- Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30 (Term Time Only)
- Pay: Competitive daily/hourly rate
- Contract Type: day to day supply
