Exciting opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented Design Manager to contribute to the successful delivery of a significant £20 million healthcare project in London with a leading main contractor. This role will see you working as a key member of the project team, providing crucial support to the lead Design Manager across all stages of the design process.
Our client, a well-respected and established main contractor with a strong track record in the healthcare sector, is looking for a collaborative and technically strong Design Manager to support the design delivery of this important scheme. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the lead Design Manager in the management of the design process for the £20m healthcare project.
- Act as a key point of contact for design-related queries, working closely with the client, design consultants, and internal project teams under the guidance of the lead.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the design programme.
- Review and provide detailed feedback on design information, identifying potential issues or clashes.
- Assist in the coordination and management of external design consultants.
- Ensure design compliance with relevant statutory regulations, building codes, and healthcare standards.
- Contribute to value engineering exercises and the exploration of design solutions.
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of design team meeting minutes.
- Track and report on design progress to the lead Design Manager, highlighting any potential delays or risks.
- Support the smooth flow of design information to the construction team.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the company's design management processes.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or Assistant Design Manager, ideally with some exposure to healthcare projects.
- Good understanding of the design and construction process, including relevant legislation and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficient in relevant design and project management software.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in a design-related discipline (e.g., Architecture, Building Services, Structural Engineering).
- A willingness to learn and develop your design management skills within a supportive environment.
