Role Overview:
The position entails the comprehensive management of a Registered Children's Home, ensuring the provision of high-quality care in accordance with individual care plans, objectives, standards, policies, and procedures. This is a senior management role requiring exemplary professionalism, competence, and leadership. The role involves supporting young people aged 10-25 with highly complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Management and supervision of Deputy Manager(s), Team Leaders, Residential Support Workers, and ancillary staff.
Participation in the Senior Management Team, including meetings and projects.
Contribution to the referral assessment process, including conducting assessments, matching, and placement offers.
Development and maintenance of staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage for safe and efficient operation.
On-call availability for out-of-hours emergencies (considered part of normal duties).
Identification of care deficits and staff training needs, in liaison with the QA Manager.
Provision of formal and informal staff training.
Oversight of the home's management, including day-to-day operations and the quality of life for young people.
Management of all quality of care processes, including risk assessments, care plans, and progress reports.
Maintenance of close links with safeguarding professionals and adherence to shared protocols.
Ensuring the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose.
Provision of effective staff leadership, including mentor ship, supervision, and professional development reviews.
Conducting regular quality reviews (Regulation 45) and managing inspections (Regulation 44, local authority, Ofsted/CQC).
Undertaking annual location assessments in liaison with stakeholders.
Proactive development of the home according to various plans and procedures.
Ensuring staff are conversant with all aspects of home management.
Facilitating monthly team meetings and efficient communication channels.
Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and statutory legislation (e.g., Quality Standards, Children's Homes Regulations).
Maintenance of the health, safety, and welfare of young people and staff.
Ensuring proper notifications are made per statutory and company requirements.
Provision of high-quality care that meets the diverse needs of young people.
Supporting the individuality and independence of young people and fostering communication.
Ensuring access to appropriate medical, dental, and ancillary care.
Encouraging and participating in social activities.
Fostering positive relationships with the local community.
Contributing to reports for Statutory and Case Reviews.
Cooperating with Social Services Departmental staff and other professionals.
Commitment to maintaining contact between children and their birth families (where appropriate).
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
Valuing diversity and understanding the need for confidentiality.
Willingness to increase knowledge through reading, discussion, and training.
Essential Qualifications:
Diploma Level 5 in Leadership & Management is required.
Possession of the Registered Manager's Award or Diploma Level 5 in a relevant care environment is highly desirable.
