Salary/Rate: Up to £63,501 per annum (~£30.53 per hour inclusive of shift allowance)
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (Alternating pattern of days and nights)
## Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, proactive Shift E&I Technician to join our site operations team at a major manufacturing and distribution facility in Thurrock. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, you will be responsible for executing breakdown repairs, planned preventative maintenance, and instrumentation calibrations across advanced manufacturing lines.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role combining rigorous electrical execution with automated system diagnostics to keep critical infrastructure running at peak optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Fault Finding & System Automation: Diagnose and rapidly solve issues on production machinery by reading logic inside PLCs and control systems.
Electrical Maintenance: Repair, rebuild, install, and commission 415V motor control circuits, coordinated drives, DOL starters, actuators, and solenoids.
Instrumentation & Calibration: Verify and calibrate automated process instruments including flow, level, temperature, pressure, and radar devices.
Asset Tracking: Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (SAP PM) to accurately log, track, and close out maintenance work orders.
Cross-Functional Operations: Work directly alongside production technicians to support emergency repairs while proactively learning and assisting with mechanical maintenance tasks when required.
Position Requirements
Must-Haves (Strict Criteria):
Qualifications: Minimum HNC / NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds Part III / ONC) in a time-served Electrical Engineering apprenticeship.
Industrial Background: Proven electrical maintenance experience within a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), food processing, beverage, or high-volume automated manufacturing environment.
Technical Software/Controls: Direct hands-on experience troubleshooting with PLC systems (preferably Allen Bradley) and SCADA frameworks.
Power Circuits: Complete comfort working with 415V motor control circuits and complex machine-coordinated drives.
Communication: High accountability and the fluent ability to read, speak, and write technical reports in English.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience working in ATEX-rated hazardous areas (Compex certifications).
Active experience logging data or running predictive maintenance routes within SAP PM.
