Electrician
Position Summary
We are actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Electrician to join our property services team, with the primary work location centered around Southampton. This crucial role involves executing comprehensive electrical safety testing programs and delivering high-quality domestic maintenance services within our portfolio of social housing properties.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection, Testing, and Certification:
Execute the cyclical five-year electrical inspection program across residential units and shared communal spaces.
Conduct periodic inspection and testing (EICRs) and accurately determine and execute required remedial works.
Perform initial verification and testing for new electrical installations and upgrade projects.
Property Repair and Upgrades:
Provide prompt and efficient reactive maintenance and fault-finding services to our residents.
Undertake full electrical works for vacant properties ('Void turnaround') to ensure regulatory compliance for new tenancy.
Support wider planned investment schemes, including electrical installation work during kitchen, bathroom, and heating system upgrades.
Upgrade and maintain exterior and communal area lighting systems.
Compliance and Administration:
Ensure strict adherence to the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and all relevant safety standards.
Generate and process all necessary electrical certification, utilizing NICEIC-compliant software or equivalent digital platforms.
Maintain meticulous records of all service, inspection, and certification activities.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Interact professionally and effectively with residents, colleagues, and external contractors, representing the organization positively.
Commit to delivering consistently high standards of customer service and technical output.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in a relevant Electrical discipline or a recognised equivalent trade apprenticeship.
Current certification for the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds 2382-18).
AM2 (Achievement Measurement 2) Certificate.
Current qualification in Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent combination like 2394/2395).
A valid, full UK Driving Licence.
Skills and Profile
Proven background in fault diagnosis, installation, and maintenance within a domestic setting.
Demonstrated capability in completing official electrical certification using professional software.
Previous working knowledge of the social housing sector is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently, manage a daily schedule, and demonstrate strong personal initiative.
