Hours: 40 hours per week (plus Out-of-Hours Call-Out Rota)
The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and professional Electrician to join our team delivering responsive maintenance and void property works for Woking Borough Council.
This role is at the heart of our service, ensuring that local residents have safe and functional homes. You will be responsible for everything from reactive "first-time" fixes and complex fault finding to full domestic rewires and installations during kitchen and bathroom modernisations.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Inspection: Carry out rigorous electrical testing and inspection to ensure compliance and safety.
Reactive Repairs: Diagnose and resolve electrical faults efficiently, adopting a "right first-time" approach.
Planned Installations: Perform full domestic rewiring and installations for heating systems, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Customer Excellence: Act as a professional ambassador, dealing with tenants clearly and concisely-even in contentious situations-to explain repair outcomes.
Digital Workflow: Use a smartphone/PDA to manage your diary, record job details, and communicate with the office.
Health & Safety: Maintain a practical and proactive approach to safety, ensuring you and the public are protected at all times.
Requirements: Qualifications & Knowledge
To be successful in this role, you must be a competent tradesperson with the following:
Certifications (Required):
City & Guilds 2382 (17th Edition) - 18th Edition working knowledge is highly desirable.
City & Guilds 2391 (Testing & Inspection) or equivalent.
NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years working within a Social Housing or Building Maintenance environment.
Compliance: A full UK driving licence and the ability to pass a DBS check are mandatory.
Tools: You must possess your own professional toolkit to perform the required trades.

You must be comfortable making informed judgements on the right course of action for a repair, ensuring all work meets statutory and legislative standards.
