Are you a resilient, versatile educator looking to make a profound difference in a non-traditional setting? We are looking for an exceptional English Teacher to join our dedicated teaching team based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
Working within a hospital environment is unlike any mainstream classroom. You will be teaching children and young people who are facing health challenges, requiring a teacher who can balance academic rigour with high levels of empathy and adaptability.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring that pupils remain engaged with their education during their hospital stay.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to individual needs and health requirements.
Adapt teaching styles for a diverse range of learners, from mainstream secondary pupils to those with complex needs.
Collaborate with medical staff and families to provide a supportive learning environment.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives on variety and isn't phased by a changing "classroom" dynamic.
Essential Requirements:
Subject Expertise: Strong experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
SEND Experience: Proven experience working with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) within a special school setting.
Flexibility: The ability to pivot your teaching approach quickly. You won't always be working with mainstream pupils; your day could include anything from GCSE prep to sensory-based learning.
Resilience: Comfort working within a hospital ward environment.
Note: We are specifically seeking a subject specialist in English.
