We are working with a leading Regional Main Contractor, who are dedicated to more than just delivering quality spaces; they are committed to cultivating a family-like environment where collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and client satisfaction define who they are.
Due to sustained growth and an impressive pipeline of upcoming projects, we are excited to announce an opportunity for a Estimator to join our dynamic team based at our NE office based in Gateshead
Our track record and continued success are built on our exceptional workforce and supportive company culture. We actively encourage professional development, give every employee a real voice, and celebrate outstanding performance with fantastic rewards.
The Opportunity
As an Estimator in our close-knit commercial team, you will be a natural "people person" and a great communicator who builds and maintains relationships with ease.
You'll play a pivotal role in pricing diverse commercial build, fit-out, and refurbishment packages ranging from £100k to £5m. Our projects cover a wide spectrum of sectors, including active commercial offices, retail, education, healthcare, industrial, and heritage buildings.
What We Value
Your character and commitment to our core values are what will set you apart:
- Teamwork: Collaboration is central to how we deliver projects. You will work closely with our operational, commercial, and design teams to win and deliver work together.
- Professionalism: Your deep knowledge of construction techniques, structural alterations, interior fit-outs, and building services will ensure the highest standard of accuracy.
- Client First: Building strong relationships with clients, architects, and quantity surveyors, identifying smart value engineering solutions, and delivering exceptional service are key to our approach.
- Family Environment: We champion a flat management structure with no unnecessary hierarchy. You will enjoy the autonomy to oversee bids from initial inquiry through to handoff, with your voice valued at every stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Inquiry & Strategy: Review incoming tender packages, establish winning bid strategies, and conduct pre-tender site surveys.
- Take-Offs & Documentation: Produce accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and commercial proposals from first-principles, schematics, or performance specifications.
- Design & Value Engineering: Offer practical construction advice, identifying cost-saving alternatives and innovative solutions for our clients.
- Supply Chain Management: Engage with, manage, and negotiate competitive packages across a broad subcontractor network (trades, M&E, structural, finishes).
- Handover & Cost Analysis: Participate in tender adjudication meetings, hand winning bids over to operational teams seamlessly, and track historical cost data to refine future pricing.
- Client Engagement: Maintain regular, proactive contact with client teams to gather tender feedback and build ongoing relationships.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Experience: Extensive background as an Estimator within the commercial build, fit-out, and refurbishment sector.
- Technical Breadth: Strong technical knowledge across trade packages-from structural alterations and roofing to high-end interior finishes and MEP services.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to cost control with the ability to work calmly and accurately under tight tender deadlines.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, collaborative spirit, and strong negotiation capability.
- Flexibility: A proactive, enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to undertake occasional site visits across the UK.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary & Benefits Package (car/allowance)
- Genuine autonomy in a non-bureaucratic, flat-structure culture
- Ongoing career development and professional support
